Dates with Gustav

I forsee many posts about my daily commute, but I don't anticipate a lot of positive things to say. However, if there's one thing I look forward to in my evening commute, it's the Cuervo Cocktail Mix at 6 on KNRK 94.7. The set is best described by Gustav's page on the station's website:

"Check out the "Cuervo Cocktail Mix at 6" each weekday for mixed sets of current bands heard on 94/7, as well as classic remixes of some of your club favorites. Each Thursday on the show, I spin tracks from my personal collection that I've amassed from both here in the States and in Europe over the years. Fridays, is when local DJ talent takes over the decks in the "Cuervo Cocktail Mix." Hear sets of everything from Progressive House to Breaks, Trance, and more as spun by a pool of talented mixers from the Portland area!"

I have yet to hear a set I don't like. I don't go out clubbing anymore, but this is a very acceptable substitute...even it means I dance in my car. It makes me forget the agony that is driving in rush hour traffic. Thanks Gustav!

Driving to work

Commuting...notice there is no "tele" in front of that. As I alluded in my last post, I actually drive into work now. Gone are the days were I rolled out of bed, grabbed some coffee, yogurt and laptop, and then, still in my pajamas, went to work on the couch. I can no longer get up 10 minutes before work; I get up an hour and half before my fingers touch a keyboard. I now have a more involved routine where I roll out of bed, shower, make coffee, eat breakfast, get in my car, and then drive 10 miles to work in the oh-so-lovely suburb of Hillsboro. Fortunately, the majority of my route to work consists of highway driving, but it can also suck if traffic gets backed up. My commute, one way, can range between 15-30 minutes. Even with 15 minutes, I still wish it were shorter...and maybe in the other direction towards town...

I'm just waiting for the MAX to add a line from home to work...

Morning rituals?

I saw something interesting on my way to work (commuting...that's for another time). I was on Hwy 26 about to pass a car on my right. From behind, it appeared as though the driver was holding a mobile phone out of the window. As I passed him, I quickly realized it wasn't a phone in his hand, but rather, an electric shaver. He was cleaning out his shaver by the wind of a moving car! Ewww...

I'm still looking for stubble on my car...
